For the second consecutive year, ABMA will be presenting an Internship Scholarship to a deserving young engineer. Applications for the 2012 Tedric A. Harris Internship Scholarship are now available.
Professor Tedric A. Harris made outstanding contributions to the bearing industry both as a professor in Mechanical Engineering and in private industry. Professor Harris has been a role model and mentor for numerous young engineers in the bearing field and many of these have become leaders in the field through their work with their companies and the American Bearing Manufacturing Association.
The ABMA Tedric A. Harris Internship Scholarship supports the advanced education of a deserving young engineer toward a bearing related career. Support will be a one-year, non-renewable $1,000 grant payable to the successful applicant. This applicant will then be selected for an internship position at an ABMA member company.

In order to qualify for the Scholarship, applicants must be an undergraduate student, having completed at least two years of college or university mechanical engineering courses with an overall GPA of 3.0. Applicants should submit an official transcript, a curriculum vitae, one letter of recommendation from their mentor and a personal statement describing their interest in mechanical engineering and the bearing industry.

The deadline for submitting an application is March 1, 2012. Submissions will be reviewed by the ABMA Engineering Education Committee and rated according to the academic achievement of the applicant and the recommendations of the applicant's professors. The final decision will be made by the ABMA Executive Committee.
